Sift
Sift checks lossless files, spots duplicates, writes tags, files the library and exports it to Rekordbox and the USB drive.
The app's interface is in French. Unsigned installers: the system shows a warning on first launch. What to do, in the manual.
Features
Review (Revue)
Every file that arrives in a watched folder is analyzed in the background: spectral cutoff, density of the highs, codec quantization grid, duplicates by acoustic fingerprint. Player, waveform, spectrogram. Discogs identification. Conversion to MP3, WAV or AIFF, filename built from the tags. Batch mode (mode Lot) for a selection.
Log (Journal)
History of conversions, files set aside, identifications and syncs. Every row can be undone, even after a restart.
Filed (Rangés)
The library as it stands on disk: sortable table, remembered columns, search, multiple selection, space used per format, right-click actions.
To re-source and Trash (À re-sourcer et Corbeille)
Fakes and truncated files on one side, duplicates and mistakes on the other, each with its reason. Nothing is erased until the trash is emptied. Restore in one click.
Rekordbox
Comparison of the two libraries: new tracks, metadata, cover art, linked files to repair. Writing through an XML file, or straight into the database after a verified backup. Refused if Rekordbox is open.
USB drive (Clé USB)
Drive information, FAT32 formatting beyond the 32 GB Windows refuses, ejection. Double confirmation, with the volume name, before erasing.
Verdict
Genuine — nothing in the signal contradicts a lossless file.
Fake — compression measured. The file goes to À re-sourcer, to re-source, without deletion.
To check — one unusual measurement, without proof. To be judged on the spectrogram.
Safeguards
- Nothing is deleted. Setting a file aside — Écarter — moves it. Only emptying the Trash (Corbeille) erases, after confirmation.
- Watched folders are read-only. Sift reads them, it does not rewrite them.
- Rekordbox is backed up before any write. The backup is verified, otherwise nothing is written.
- Everything can be undone. From the Log (Journal), action by action.
